As long as there has been written history, there have always been documents on the living dead. Vampires or vampyres appeared in written documents from written myths, to literature and even historic writings. In the year 2265, what can be assured is that there are four main covens within Italy.

Dracula Coven

The Dracula Coven, is the oldest and largest coven in recorded history. They have grown in numbers, but have always kept themselves from being noticed by society. Their place of origin was Transylvania, and as much as they hid, they were fictionalized by humans because of one of their members. Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia, usually called Vlad the Impaler, was the first to bring Dracula to the limelight through his cruelty in war. He was known to have a pleasure for blood, so much so that he would have his raw steak meal, out in the battlefield, with his victims that were impaled in a stake. This let the blood flow downwards towards his meal, which he paid no heed.

Since then, the 20th century began to write novels of the family, and exaggerating their cruelty and seduction to society. They are now a very secretive group. Their rituals are unknown and it's rare for a Dracula to come out in the open and state their surname.

Báthory Coven

A relatively mediocre Coven, the Báthory family can be traced back to the late 17th century. They originated from Hungary, where they had royal standing for a few hundred years. The Báthory can definitely be described as the most blood-thirsty of the four clans, with many disturbing tales surrounding their founding Mother, Countess Elizabeth, who used to bath in the blood of young women from a nearby village along with other ruthless rumours. Elizabeth's descendants all carry her trademark night-black hair and pale skin.

The Báthory are incredibly prejudiced about the purity of their Coven; they disown any Hybrid, and any Vampire that desires to consort with a human is also punished severely. The Báthory Coven are certainly the least co-operative of the Vampire Covens.

Nosferatu Coven
The Nosferatu Coven, was the coven formed within the early 20th century. The origin of Nosferatu is unknown, it is through that it came through a vampire in Germany. They were the first who began to seduce women for the source of blood. Many of them were known for sharper physical looks, but have now assimilated into society. Because of them though, is the reason that vampires are now seen as seducers.

Even now their looks are what sets them apart from their other members. They are known to convert through their power of seduction and brilliance. Often times, they convert members because of their looks. Humans tend to fear, that they have assimilated so easily within society.

Stoker Coven

The Stoker Clan are one of the rare covens that allowed integration of hybrids within their clan. Their history is also from Transylvania but one of poverty. They were fruitful in the sense that they could get victims without the need of bringing any suspicion. The farm life provided them with land to roam, and blood to drink. Most assimilated into society as doctors or writers. One of their famous members even wrote a novel in the late 19th century about vampires.

Now they are the smallest coven with most members assimilating so much that they avoid mentioning that they are vampires, and instead rely on blood banks.
